Notice of Non Payment

I have been an Amica customer for decades and due to Amica's renumbering the same policies each year a last "partial" payment for the previous policy year was misapplied by Amica to the new year's policy. I paid ahead of time but was written two notices of non-payment. I believe you need a review of customer care practices. Sincerely, James R. Poling (Auto Policy 9406**-**KU) And this message board REQUIRING 100 words is another example of what is wrong with customer care. I am writing now until I see that I have hit one hundred words and that is ludicrous. End

Called Responding Police and Fire Liars...

1.0 star rating 11/18/2013 The adjuster just came out and took a look at my truck from Correa Casualty and he told me how I was "In good hands" with Amica Insurance. Not true, I called the inside adjuster who doesn't know what shes doing and has poor customer service skills. Funny, I was going to see if I could get auto coverage through them since supposedly they were so good. DON'T DO IT! Oh... By the way, If you work in any kind of public safety, they'll accuse you of knowing the responding officers if you're in accident and that gives you an advantage in the way they write the report. I think she was calling responding police and fire liars...

High cost - no customer retention policy

Amica home and auto customer for about 20 years. Excellent credit, prompt payer, 1 auto, 1 home claim totaling about $6K over the 20 years. Added a new car and started to recheck rates. Amica offered absolutely no offer to be competitive without switching to a lower insurance coverage. No talk of customer retention or what additional benefits Amica offers - maybe because there are no "real" additional benefits??? Needless to say I switched to another auto carrier and will be switching my homeowners as well since they are removing the multi policy discount. Again, no attempt to work with me and retain me as a customer, other than to offer me lesser coverage. Now why would anyone do that when I can get the same coverage for less money - just because Amica writes the checks faster?! This is a government regulated industry and in a state like CT, you can't play with the consumer when it comes to claims settlement. Sorry Amica, I can't afford you anymore in this economy. You need to learn to compete a little better. - A former faithful 20+ year customer!

Amica Insurance Claim

Mrs. Hall

My car was totalled by an Amica covered individual. I have Allstate myself and this would never have happened with them. My son was injured and got medical attention and hired an attorney. The case was settled on May 31,2013. They said they were putting a check in the mail, check has not go here yet. It is now June 19, 2013. We requested a stop payment. They said they will have to see if the first one has cleared the bank before they reissue. ok understandable but they have no idea of how long this will take. I know it only take a call to thier bank. They are so shady and that is saying it mildly.

Sorry about your accident experience. I too was in an accident a few years back, but my ins.

co. was Allstate. They put me through pure *** for seven years. They refused me medical help I needed with the help of their *** doctors and finally screwed me out of every dime they owed me under my policy.

You really need to do your homework on Allstate and hope and pray to God that you never get injured and need to make a claim.

What, you didn't get your settlement check within 13 business days? Waaahhh. Get some Kleenex instead of getting online.

Amica Insurance Claim

Amica customer for 40 years

I have been an Amica customer for 40 years, home and auto. It has been a point of pride that I have been with company for so long, both my marriages combined are 38 years. So when we had 38" of snow this winter, my huband noticed that my garage roof was sagging in the middle. So with the utmost confidence I called Amica. An adjuster was sent out, he filed his report. All a sudden Amica is sending an engineer to check the garage. I was happy at first, thinking that the engineer would know everything wrong with my garage. My husband's first words were "they are going to screw us". When I questioned the claim handler, his exact words were "just because you have been a customer for 40 years and recommended us to other people, you think we should just write you a check". I was so upset, I started crying. Today the claim handler called and said , No we aren't going to pay money on the claim. Why, well he said that it was natural settling, or wasn't build right, wasn't quite sure why it's sagging, only that this wasn't covered. Then tells me that the engineer went to the townhall and found a picture of my house from 2001 and after blowing it up really large, they can can see a sag in my roof. I had a new roof put on 5 years ago and no one mentioned a sag. You can see that the weight of the snow pushed the wall between the garage doors off the foundation, the garage doors can't come all the way down. I can't tell you how upsetting this has been to me. Something's you just depend on and I for 40 years thought that was Amica. Amica is not the same company that I knew. I can't explain how upsetting it is to lose your faith in a company that you have done business with for 40 years.Amica was great for 40 years until I filed a claim.

I am so sad to heqar of your story. My parents were AMica customers and I followed suit until, I got hit, and was issued a tickert and I proved by spending alot of money on the Black box and DMV reports of other driver plus other money and after consistantly sharing my finds with AMICA I was still found LIABLE for the accident NOW I HAVE TO GET A LAWYER AND SUE AMICA PLUS MAKE SURE I AM FOUUND INNOCENT OF THIS ACCIDENT WHERE I WAS HIT!!!! PLEASE be careful of this dishonest company I also thought they were a good company!!!!

Amica Insurance Claim
My homeowners insurance with Amica went up 250% this year because of a change in my fire department's rating code. Other insurers take other factors into consideration, but not Amica. I received no advance notice of this hike and no letter or call of explanation....

I remember years ago when you had to be recommended to Amica. My former in-laws, had me look into it.

I was accepted and had only 3 claims since 1981, 1-auto not my fault, and 2-homeowners claims. The first homeowners claim was for a break-in and by the time Amica sent out their investigator I was made to feel like I was guilty of stealing my own stuff. Then in 2/14 I made a claim for ice/snow damage from all the snow this winter in CT. The water poured in through my BOW window and front door causing major structural damage.

All along I was told to get some quotes and I could use who ever I wanted, but now that quotes have come in at 12,000.00- 14,000.00 for a new wood window, solid maple front door w/side lights windows, soffit repair AMICA is changing their tune and wanting to use their own restoration company that isn't using certified contractors, using inferior/low grade materials. AMICA is not the same company anymore. They have a lot of new people that are totally clueless, their CSA dept. sucks, They are in no way competitive, I dropped my auto policy with them after 33 years and they didn't even care, I was paying 1,200.00 a year for full coverage on an '01 Dodge Ram pickup and 800.00 on a '09 Nissan Murano Full coverage to 500,000.00.

I switched to Kemper I now pay 1,100.00 for 750,000 coverage, and we added my son to our policy too.

In my opinion AMICA MUTUAL INSURANCE SUCKS!!!!!, they taken on so many riffraff customers in recent years to stay competitive I feel it hurt their Companies Reputation.

Lead paint issue

We had a lead paint issue (windows and interior/exterior of house filled with lead and we thought we were covered). You must love semantics to love this issue but we had to have all lead removed, including windows and exterior. We encapsulated the inside. Amica denied our claim because they consider replacing lead filled windows and lead house paint a "maintenance" issue not a loss...however, having lead in our water is in their lawyers mind is not a loss. What an "f'n" joke. Worse part is we have never filed a claim in 7 years paying the highest premiums in the northeast. Classic insurance... this company will always ***

Nothing new about AMICA. They are famous for collecting premiums and marketing, but real short on paying claims.

#870923

I've been an AMICA customer for over 20 years and have recently had a claim whereby the water leaked and damaged my dwelling. The loss occurred more than seven moths ago and AMICA cannot agree with any contractor I have solicited as to the necessary scope of work to repair the damage.

Their in side adjusters are totally unqualified and refuse to discuss the issues at hand.

Going to seek litigation against AMICA for bad faith and cost of damages. No more AMICA after the policy runs out.

My son was in an accident he scraped a car pulling out of a tight spot. The owner of the other car filed a claim for 1658.00, Amica disagreed with this amount and paid 2016.00, which upgraded this accident from a minor to a major accident. They are the worst...

!!!!AUTO CLAIMS NOT HONORED HAVE TO SUE FOR DAMAGES!!!!

AMICA'S INSURED RAN A STOP SIGN , DAMAGED MY CAR AND INJURED MY PASSENGER, WEEKS LATER WE STILL CANNOT GET AMICA TO HONOR THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOW FORCED TO HIRE AN ATTOURNEY AND SUE FOR DAMAGES AND INJURIES AS WELL AS EXSPENSES. PLUS NOW MEDICAL COSTS TOO. NOW WE HAVE TO WAIT WHO KNOWS HOW LONG FOR COURT JUDGEMENT FOR AN OBVIOUS CLAIM WHERE THEIR INSURED IS AT FAULT FOR RUNNING A STOP SIGN. THE INSURED IS NOT GOING TO FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH AMICA AFTER THIS. !!!!!!I WOULD NOT RECOMEND AMICA TO ANYONE, THE INSURED WHO THOUGHT THEY WERE COVERED ARE NOW BEING SUED FOR WHAT THEY PAYED INSURANCE FOR!!!!!

Who is your insurance? I may be mistaken but in cases where insurance companies(that assumes you DO have insurance) have a dispute usually your insurance covers the expenses until they win a judgement or a settlement is arrived at.

Amica may be dragging their *** but your insurance should take care of you, especially if you have coverage for uninsured // under insured driver.

I would go to Allstate. they were good to us.

Over 30% Increase

Last year I got sticker shock when I got My Amica Insurance Premium, A $400 increase. I believe that because they cancelled my homeowners insurance by mistake, they say one number was off, a subsequent misquote that led me to under pay my premium and just the honeymoon is over price gouging leads me to think that this is just a lousy company to do business with. By the way I had no accidents or violations. Don't believe them when they try to canoodle you by saying that you are not just a number, you will always be a number.

Whopping Homeowner's Premium Increase

I've had Amica homeowner's insurance for 5 years and have never had any kind of incident nor any claim. I have no dogs, no kids, am retired, and live in a low crime area. This month I got my renewal policy and found - buried in the middle of a thick stack of papers - that the premium had increased a WHOPPING 37% over the previous year. And last year's premium was already a 12% increase. They now want me to pay nearly double what it was only a few years ago. And they've gotten sneaky about it too. Before, they told you in the cover letter accompanying the renewal that there had been an increase in rates. This time, no mention of it whatsoever. I'm translating these unbelievable increases to mean they no longer want my business.

Refuses to sell a homeowner's insurance policy because I have a Great Dane

My homeowner's policy is up for renewal in February. I decided to check around for rates with other insurance companies because State Farm, who I have been with for over 7 years, decided to increase all home premiums in Texas by 20-31%! I went online to amica.com and proceeded to apply for a quote. At the end of the online application process, I was given 2 quotes, one just a little bit higher with a lower deductible. I was happy with the rate and was ready to purchase the policy. Oddly enough, when their site gives you the quote, it doesn't give you any further directive or option to purchase...just gives the quote. I figured I would call and set up the policy over the phone. After providing the telephone representative, Erica, the quote number from the website she began to ask for some detailed information about my home. After 15 minutes of answering questions, she asked if there were any animals in my home. I answered "yes, a 7 year old Boxer and a 2 year old Great Dane." She paused for a minute and replied "we can't insure your home because you have a Great Dane." Absolutely astounded, I asked why. She said that Great Danes were high risk *** dogs. For anyone who knows anything about Great Danes...they are commonly referred to as "GENTLE Giants." I have raised my girl since she was 11 weeks old, and she is the biggest couch potato, happy go lucky dog I have ever had in my 43 years on earth. I don't understand this, as I have had no problems whatsoever with State Farm. Furthermore, ANY dog can ***...it is mostly how you raise and train them. Yes, there are breeds that can be more aggressive by nature, but ultimately it comes down to how they have been raised. What infuriates me is she never asked if there was any *** history, just simply said no Great Danes. I've known chihuahuas that attack anything they come in contact with...but with Amica it's o.k. But god forgive you if you own a Great Dane. One last thought...it would be nice if Amica's quote site listed a warning before beginning the process, as I wasted 30 minutes just to be told go to hades!

I got an advertisement in my mail this morning. Checked online here with BBB and online for reviews.

This is one reason I won't be contacting this insurance company for a quote. I don't have a Great Dane, but have known friends with them and have never ever known this breed to be other than a Gentle Giant as described by this individual.

Yeah, I'm only one person here; think of the many others who will not take time to respond.

RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE

Contacted AMICA MUTUAL INS. CO. regarding an auto claim. Received a letter from a customer service (?) rep. stating , " If you have any questions, please feel free to ontact me. " This female REFUSED TO HELP ME with my issues. When I asked about assistance with the auto rental she offered to help me with. she said, "you can do it ." Why did she offer in her letter ? I have REGRETABLY been a multi policy holder for 38 years. THIS WILL END VERY SOON ! I refuse t be treated this way when I pay good money for this coverage. NO MORE AMICA FOR ME ! THEY SUCK !
