My Ford SUV hit a curb. It was in a collision center for 6 weeks getting everything fixed but the transmission. For the required transmission work to be completed, my SUV spent 29 days at a Ford dealership (7/31 to 8/28). After I exhausted my $1,200 rental car benefit,...

Bad quality

Thieves lack customer service and billing skills purposely

Amica insurance will do just about ANYTHING to make sure they get as much money possible from clients/customers and have no shame in showing it too! My monthly premium bill was typically $95 which each month I paid even $100 until I added a second vehicle on in the beginning of March, which they told me that my next monthly bill premium amount would be an extra $85 a month for a total of $176.42 which was fine. Well every month I logged into my dashboard/profile on Amica webpage because on dashboard it would show me amount that’s due and the date and I could pay online then and there. Apperently Amica posted a bill on 3/15/18 for the amount of $274.96 which I didn’t expect since I had paid $100 on 3/2 before adding the second vehicle. On 4/17/18 I logged into my Amica dashboard to pay whatever was due for bill which it said that the minimum amount past due was $175 and to pay to avoid cancellation so I paid the $175 on 4/17 which posted to my transaction history on my Amica profile. Well instead of Amica putting on my dashboard the bill amount for $274.96 was due or to be paid and put $175.00 that left a balance of $99.76 due. Apperently instead of contacting me by calling me to inform me that there was still $99.76 due or even roll the $99.76 over ontop of a new bill amount $176.42 for May they felt it was more necessary to mail out a cancellation notice on 5/4/18 for the amount of $99.76 to be paid before 5/2918 to avoid policy cancelation. My lovely mother in law claims that the neighbor had received a few mail pieces by accident and this notice being one of them and she didn’t get it from them until 5/20/18 but I think she did receive in the mail around 5/10/18 since it was mailed 5/4/18 and she tossed it in a pile and forgot about it. So Amica last bill posted was 3/15 I had made a payment of $175.00 on 4/17 which was 33 days after they had posted this bill and then 17 days later after I had paid the $175 they mailed out a notification letter versus calling me or mailing me a new bill with the $99.76 amount added one to be due. My dad was hit by a drunk driver Memorial Day weekend which resulted him being rushed to the trama unit/ICU and placed into induced coma to fight for his life asleep. So bills had totally slipped my mind. One day while sitting st the hospital on 6/7/18 I had remembered I haven’t paid Amica since 4/17/2018 and expected I have to pay almost $300 bill but was fine with it so I was shocked to see that $99.76 was past due and to be paid right away so I paid $100 on 6/7/18. My mother in law must’ve found the letter between then and 6/10/18 because she gave me it then which I discovered the policy was cancelled on 5/29/18 over a sad $99.76! So the $100 I paid on 6/7/18 was towards a non active policy! Amica had a total of 75 days to contact me, call me ect from date they issued their last bill to the date they had cancelled. To them one notice letter was sufficient enough clearly. Well on 6/7/18 when I made the $100 payment I assumed all was fine because my dashboard updated to saying that past due amount was $0.00 and that the next amount of $185.00 is due on August 2, 2018! Now get this summary, Amica hasn’t posted nor issued me a bill since 3/15/18 which was the amount of $274.96, I had paid $175 on 4/17/18 (33 days after bill posted) which once deducted from the $274.96 left the balance of $99.76, which on 6/7/18 was assumed by the Amica dashboard was due and paid $100 which paid off that last bill issued of $274.96 in 3/15/18, so if that was the last bill Amica posted and I technically paid it even $100 of it after policy cancelled on 5/29/18 how the heck can Amica say I owe $185.00 by 8/2/18 if the policy has been cancelled since 5/29/18 and no bill has been posted since 3/15/18! And they now are telling me that I can begin a whole new policy with a higher premium due to last insurance company cancelling me for non payment (yea no *** it was your *** company!) and demand me to pay 20% of the premium total down to begin this new policy (which I wasn’t required to pay a downpayment months back to begin a new policy with them and as a new customer) and then pay rmv title fees since I need new ones now! Amica should give me a new policy that is the same premium amount my previous policy was and to waive/not demand me to pay 20% down to begin it! They haven’t posted me a new bill since 3/15/18 and NEVER attempted to contact me after I paid $175 on 4/17/18 besides feeling it was good to mail cancellation notice 17 days after they received $175.00 payment for $99.76! For such a little/Petty amount they purposely avoided any contact hoping this happen so they could then come at me saying I can begin a new policy but with a higher premium amount and must pay 20% to activate new policy. Two days after they had taken $100 paid to an inactive policy and somehow still also claim that there’s $185.00 due in two months for this policy hat has been cancled since 5/29/18 yet never issued a bill for that amount after 3/15/2018. I plan to give Amica Havoc with filing complaints everywhere. I sat and spoke to a lawyer yesterday who gladly is helping me because I was smart and snap shot pictures of my transaction history and bills issued on my Amica profile. He says they unlawfully and wrongfully treated me as a customer and misled me too with their billing to sucker me into this end result where they can say to me I can begin a new policy with higher premium amount and pay 20% upfront. He said they see my driving record which is squeaky clean/perfect and know they can make money off a person like me yearly because I’m very low risk factor on even submitting a claim, having an accident or getting a ticket. So since they see this why not manage to screw up billing resulting in cancelling a policy with a premium amount of $176 monthly for 12 months that didn’t receive any upfront to beable to begin a new policy with a much higher premium amount monthly which they can also demand a big chunk upfront and have a very large chance their company will get to keep all of it since I am low risk for filing any claims or accidents. Amica is a very sick company and super greedy and will suck as much money as they can from good drivers knowing they won’t have a claim having to be paid out most likely.

Agree, Amica looks for reasons not to pay. They low ball like all the other Insurance companies, than drag out the claims process hoping you will give up. If you pd for coverage and didn't get it you might need to sue them.

Terrible quoting process

I did a quote online for home and auto insurance. The online home insurance quote process was quick and easy. However, you then have to call in to get the full quote. Fine. Understandable. This process, however, took 45 minutes, only to come back $200 higher!!! But here is the kicker, the guy I spoke with, Rayshawn, said a few times, "The problem with online quotes is that we go by the replacement value". Okay, I understand that. I put in online $155,000 for the replacement cost. His quote was only $125,000 which was LOWER. I have excellent credit, and he could give me absolutely NO explanation as to why it came back so much higher. It felt very bait and switch. Just wrong. Very poor customer service and what a waste of time.

Let see if I have this right. You had no insurance and had it been your fault, could not have afforded to pay any kind of substantial claim, yet you believe you deserve to be compensated from someone who was responsible and carried insurance. HMMM.

Amica Insurance Auto Insurance Review

Just got my one year renewal for home and car insurance with Amica. $500/year total increase. Same excuse as the rest of you. Texas insurance costs increased. Added in some jazz about how much the flooding cost them last year like it had something to do with me. I made no parts of flooding claims on my home or vehicle. No tickets. Switching when policy expires. Bait switch.

Worthless company

I rear ended a stationary van "driven" by an illegal Mexican on a freeway "off ramp" frontage road [downtown LA]. Van was in the left 'fast" lane of the access road. Driver in front of me saw the obstruction. By the time he swerved to the right hand lane I was confronted with the van in front of me and did not have time to clear to the right [Yes-- I know-- I ought to have known whether there was a car on my right] . So applied brakes, hit the van dead center. Knocked off his polyester bumper. I had skid marks. The van had none. Unfortunately this was at 5:45 in the morning and the hispanic CHP officer who appeared was not interested since he obviously got off at 6 am. The driver had no license. Duh!. I;m sure he wasn't ticketed. Where Amica comes in is that they said it was 100% my fault. Not the fact the other driver was unlicensed and not driving his own vehicle. Or stopped in the 'fast" access lane. I cancelled Amica as soon as I could, and will NEVER do business with them. Nor should anyone.

Amica Insurance - Insurance Review

I am writing in response to the comment out of Illinois. I worked for Amica for close to 3 years at a local branch. The turnover was ridiculous where I was as well. The company prides itself in customer service, but is creating conditions that do not support that goal. In the time I was there, there were 3 retirements right at the age of eligibility, and there was a turnover of 5 reprentatives for other reasons. I knew from offices that we had been linked with virtually that we were not the only one experiencing a high level of turnover. Branches linked virtually had turf issues and were resentful of other branches' attempts to resolve procedural issues. The management did not want to make waves with other managers so a lot was not addressed that needed to be. I was in a support role, and from the beginning there were issues with my position not being respected, and the pay was not enough for a person to live very far above the poverty line. Being poor affected the perception of my role in the office, because people who are valued are compensated at a greater level. I was told when I was hired that there would be possibilities to move into other positions. Not once, with all of this turnover, was I offered a chance to move into a sales position, despite the fact i was licensed. I was too competent in my position and too much of a bargain. I was also taking a course of study, in which i had gotten further than their newest sales reps, by the time I had left. During the couse of this last year, an effort was being made to load excess work on me, and this correlated with my having a year with many serious health concerns (read-effect on benefit costs). The final straw was blatant disrespect by a coworker in a supervisory position, and when I reported it to a manager, her suddenly acting in a way that showed distrust of my cash handling. There had never been a problem with that in the almost 3 years that I worked there, nor in my work history. After that, I quit. For the record, my predecessor was treated disrespectfully by the management and several staff. I expect a huge derriere-covering is taking place in the wake of my departure, and that once the dust settles, the same conditions I experienced will perpetuate.

I'm sure complaining and being miserable has gotten you quite far, but you might consider finding a new job.

Supervisors and leaders do not need to hear your problems, they need your solutions.

Try showing up to work early, keep your wrap up times in line with the requirements, stop making your management have to constantly look over your shoulder. Just a couple of things to consider.
